Marmite stock is running outYes, that’s right, New Zealand is apparently facing a shortage of one brand of yeast based spread – it’s the end of the fucking world.

Marmite: What the hell is wrong with this country
Surely I don’t need to explain the story. There has been so much news coverage over it in the past few days that we all must know the story by now:

In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king
This of course seems to work on the theory that the people who are blind
don't have eyes, which I can’t be 100% sure about, but I don’t total believe is
correct.
Either way, I think this might apply to Jon Hamm this
week, as he rightly pointed out a big problem in society - stupidity is
revered! (No, I am not sure I tied the saying and what Jon Hamm did together,
but read on to find out).

Live TV Taping Live Blog (Not Quite)
There is a new (ish) show on TV in New Zealand – “Would I Lie to You?”
The concept of the show is pretty simple, two teams of three “compete” in telling stories and guessing if they are the truth or lies. Basically it is designed to have funny people tell interesting and amusing stories – the guessing, the points, they aren't even vaguely relevant to anything.
Essentially it is 7-days (another show on TV3), but not about news. Oh, and not as good.

February 29th Holiday - I have been vindicated!
Just the other day I wrote that February the 29th should be a public holiday for salaried workers - I felt I made a reasoned argument, but tonight I was totally justified when TV3 news did the exact same story.

The Leap Year Public Holiday Conundrum
This year is a leap year, which means that there are 29 days in February (if you needed to read that to know that I am not sure what to tell you – the rest of this might totally blow your mind). But, while speaking to someone at work today it dawned on me that I am now working an extra day this month, and overall this year, and I am being paid no differently than I was last year.
Now, I guess the following doesn't apply to waged staff, and maybe not even salaried staff who began their working life on a leap year, but for everyone else I think we should be given a day off on the 29th of February.

The Internet in New Zealand - Stephen Fry is right!
I appreciate Stephen Fry.
As an author, actor, and general smart-sounding-chap I think he is alright. This opinion was further solidified when yesterday he had a go at the sorry state of the Internet in New Zealand.
This is something I was planning on writing about in more detail in the future, but I couldn't miss this opportunity to have my opinion also backed by someone who is actually famous (although doesn't have any particular high ranking authority to make sweeping statements about the Internet).
So, here goes...

Ads on Blu Ray
Before Christmas I brought myself a present - I purchased all (at the time) four seasons of Mad Men on Blu Ray from Amazon.
